16th May - Mums the word

Had a good day today, Jon's mum and her friend came up from Dorset to visit, my mum was also here visiting, so we all went out for lunch. Jon was outnumbered sat at the table with 4 women, It was good for Jon's mum to see how well he is doing, It cant be easy only having contact via a phone. Was nice to see them laughing together today.

We spent the afternoon getting the laptop ready full of games etc so that Jon can use it for his long stay.

Only 4 days left at home before he has to go into hospital for a 3 week period. 21st May will soon be upon us, and we've so much yet to organize.

One quick thought, Jon has very little hair (his own choice to hide the grey) if his hair should fall out due to chemo he wont look any different, do you think he should apply for a NHS wig to go back to his youthful locks? (see wedding pic on website lol)

I say go for the "fro" if they got one. Nothing says, "I pimp-slapped my cancer" like a huge fro.

Oooh-yeah baby...

Morning Peeps, Have to agree with Bob from the previous set of Comments. Blond Wig, Big fake Teeth and a Red Cap. Keep your chin up Jon, we want to see you back at home before we know it.

What a cruel world we live in, When this news hit our fire station it was the first time I heard that silence since the day we were told our stn commander had tragicly been killed in a car crash over 10 years ago. The crew are stunned. Jon has been a serving member of this crew for a very long time we are all completely blown away.

Jon, Liz, Rob & Christopher are the symbol of the what I see as the good, clean living, hard working Happy family so I ask myself why them???? You never think this will land on your doorstep or effect such good people.

I would like to add that Jon Came out with his crew on Monday night for a short time and he as usuall was his calm collected self. He was just being Jon and calmly told us all about it. And stated he is going to fight it, Amamzing strength in times like this well done JON!!

Liz also has amazed us all, She has spent unknown hours travelling to and from hospitals and with the help of her family & friends has also managed to maintain the family. Liz also has managed to fit in a pub lunch with the girls on Tuesday and I think that is testiment to her determination also. Both very strong characters I not sure others could be as strong as you two

We cannot offer our support enough to you all, Whatever whenever just call you know where we are. We are here for you all 24/7 dont be afraid to ask whatever!!

The Crew of Stn 5
